“The community has faced many struggles: recruitment of young men to al Shabab, gang violence, and the prejudices of a mid-sized city in the Midwest. Yet through it all, the youth have thrived, and the community is revitalized. They are mentors, artists, poets, and community leaders. Though their stories are different, their message is clear and united – Hanoolaato (Long Live) Somalia.”
