"This project reveals a slightly surreal, hidden narrative of rural Mississippi's landscape and the people who live there: sometimes fanciful, humorous, quirky, mysterious and disturbing. I have been living in Mississippi for 10 years and it will probably be my home for a long while. Still not feeling it is my "place," and being a liberal in politics and religion, I decided the best way to deal with this unease was to explore the state, mostly rural and agricultural, through a series of road trips. Eudora Welty, who writes from a strong sense of place, is my visual and literary muse."
