Bill Yates: Sweetheart Roller Skating Rink I

Pure '70s

After his first weekend making photos at the rink, Bill Yates returned with contact sheets to pin up at the venue. The locals could see how they looked; some began to ham it up. He returned regularly, gaining the confidence of the skaters, and disappearing into the background to make these wonderful images. More than 40 years later, in sharing this archive, Bill gives us a fabulous historical record, and insight into a community experiencing some of the social changes that manifested in the 60s and 70s.
