Blazej Marczak: The Neighbours

A portrait of Scottish Society

Błażej Marczak is a documentary photographer who is currently based in Ottawa, Canada. Prior to moving there he spent 11 years in the UK: nine years in Scotland and two in England. He made this series of photos in collaboration with the locals up north. As he says, “In this new world of connectivity and global exchange, anyone can become your neighbour.” His work has been well exhibited and broadly published and I am excited to share these wonderful portraits from his series on immigrants in Scotland in the time of Brexit.  Don’t miss his ongoing Ottawa project too: “I am interested in observing changes in the constantly-evolving cities and documenting those aspects which might change its purpose, form, meaning or become no more than a memory.”
