Europe was still eager to see Wilbur fly, so in January 1909, he relocated to Pau, a city in southwest France. He sent a letter to persuade his brother, Orville, and sister, Katharine, to cross the Atlantic and join him in France. Wilbur did not realize that Katharine had already decided they would be joining him as their letters crossed in the mail. In Pau, not only was the winter weather more hospitable, but it was a resort destination for the European wealthy who were also eager to see Wilbur fly. The Wright family were now celebrities.
