Stage Left
A former hospital, but less well known than Beelitz. Also occupied by the Soviets until the fall of the Wall, I came across this room which must have been intended to entertain the patients. Lots of detail in this image, like the curtain rings above the stage and loudspeaker holes left and right. A Russian speaking colleague translated the text above the stage, it reads: 'Beneath the Flag of Leninism, under the Rulership of the Communist Party - Forward to the Total Victory of Communism'. I spent some time here thinking about the shot and waiting for the wobbly floorboards to settle! I used a shift lens for this image to take in the upper converging lines leading to the stage.
