Carol lived in a van with her dog Molly. She drove to New Orleans from Iowa with the hope of a milder winter. While living in her van there was no room to sleep since it was full of her belongings. Her days were spent at the steering wheel. At night she would empty a space in the back to sleep by putting her belongings on the street. From the van she briefly moved into a storage locker before she was placed in an apartment by social services.
