Larry Racioppo: Here Down on Dark Earth

Loss and Remembrance in New York City

Larry’s latest book depicts unofficial memorials to the fallen in working class neighborhoods of New York City. He photographed dozens of these often temporary shrines between 1990 and 2010. It’s a great book with hundreds of images, tough to represent here, best seen in analog. In Larry style, he mentions that he “called the telephone numbers barely visible in the corners of memorial walls I photographed… They are all now out of service.” The book also includes the creators of the graffiti art, AND there’s a discography!
